Hatsan Galatian Auto & Invader Auto Cycling issues: Checking the piston & barrel
Does your Hatsan Invader Auto or Hatsan Galatian Auto not cycle correctly?
Here are a few things you want to check. You'll be back to shooting before you know it!
Besides the failure of a mechanical part, there are usually two causes for cycling issues: lack of pressure or friction on the system.
Lack of pressure
Obviously, there should be enough air in the pressure tube. These rifle cycle the best above 100-120 bars or pressure.
But besides that, there could be a lack of pressure inside the barrel and piston system that actuate the cycling of the action.
The is usually caused by a missing internal barrel o-ring (part 2609).
If this ring is damaged or missing, the pressure will leak out the back at the magazine instead of going to the piston at the end of the barrel.
You can check if the o-ring is in place by looking into the breech:

Another issues cause a lack of pressure is a lame hammer spring.
This is usually caused by storing the rifle without de-cocking the hammer.
You can find a replacement spring here: Hatsan 2994 Galatian/Invader hammer spring.
Friction
Another common issue is friction on the piston system.
Underneath the barrel-shroud is the piston systeem. Guided by two rings around the barrel.
After a lot of use, these ring have come loose. This causes the piston-rod the be angled.
This angle causes friction between the rings, shroud and action. Slowing the momentum of the action.
Another issue might be that the piston head is installed too tightly.
If the head is not loose, it might run against the wall of the shroud causing the cycling to be slowed down too.

How to fix this
To inspect and remedy the piston system, you can remove the shroud and check the alignment
We made a short video on how to disassemble the shroud and if necessary, the whole barrel:
Other causes
Of course, these are just the most common issues.
Other issue might be a worn out piston return spring (the one in the shroud).
If this spring is not functioning properly, the rifle will cock and might load a pellet. But it will not push the bolt all the way forward.
A replacement piston return spring can be found here: Hatsan 2971 Piston return spring.
It is also worth removing the side plate of the action.
Here you will find the gear mechanism. This should be checked for worn parts and be well lubricated.
You can find a full parts list here: Hatsan part lists/exploded views.
